Heart of the Village Inn is an adults-only (21+) bed and breakfast in Shelburne Village, approximately 7 miles from Burlington. Designed for couples and relaxed getaways, it offers a calmer, more comfortable alternative to staying in downtown Burlington, with easy access to Shelburne Farms, Shelburne Museum, and Lake Champlain.

• You expect hotel amenities such as a pool, fitness center, or room service

What We Do Not Offer

Heart of the Village Inn is a small, owner-operated B&B — not a hotel. A few things guests often ask about that are not part of a stay here:

• No daily housekeeping. Your room is prepared before arrival. Fresh towels, toiletries, and linens are stocked at check-in — the room is not entered or refreshed during your stay.
• No luggage storage. There is no secure on-site storage before check-in or after checkout. If traveling by car, your vehicle is the most practical option for keeping belongings secure until check-in at 3:00 PM.
• No in-room or to-go breakfast. Breakfast is prepared fresh each morning and offered exclusively in the Main Inn breakfast rooms (7:30–9:30 AM). In-room, in-bed, and to-go options are not available.
• No room service or food delivery. Food and beverage are not delivered to guestrooms at any hour.
• No iron or ironing board. Irons and ironing boards are not available in guestrooms or on request.
• No front desk or on-call staff. Rose and Anatoly are resident hosts — present and attentive, but not round-the-clock hotel staff.

Property & Rooms — What to Know

The Van Vliet Room is on the second floor of the Main Inn and faces Shelburne Road (Route 7) directly. Of all the Main Inn rooms, this one has the most direct exposure to street-side ambient sound — the low hum of village traffic on a main Vermont thoroughfare. In warmer months, the window AC unit provides a degree of white noise coverage; in colder months, double-pane windows help reduce exterior sound. If a particularly quieter stay is your priority, the Carriage House rooms or the Deyett Room tend to offer a noticeably calmer experience. During the heating season, the natural sounds of hot water pipes are part of staying in this Victorian-era home, as they are throughout the Main Inn. Year-round, the everyday sounds of a shared historic home — water running, showers, conversations, footsteps — are part of the experience. Sounds from activity above may also be audible at times — a natural characteristic of multi-story historic buildings, and no different from what guests experience at inns and B&Bs throughout Burlington and the area.

WiFi is a complimentary perk via cellular signal — not hardwired broadband — and TV streams free channels via Amazon Fire over the same signal. Speeds may vary during peak hours. It is guests' responsibility to log out of any personal streaming accounts before checkout.
