On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will sweep across North America. Shelburne, Vermont is one of the best places to witness this spectacular phenomenon!

Shelburne is located in the path of totality, which means you will be able to see the sun's corona. You may also be able to observe stars and planets that are normally hidden by daylight. The total eclipse will last for an estimated 3+ minutes in Shelburne, starting at approximately 3:25 p.m. EDT.

Shelburne offers several viewing locations near our B&B: Pierson Library, Shelburne Museum, Shelburne Vineyard, and Shelburne Fieldhouse. Additionally, there is a large parking lot at the nearby Shelburne Shopping Plaza.

  • We recommend that you make all your lunch and dinner reservations for all days of your stay ASAP. Note that typically most area restaurants are not open Sun-Mon. We recommend that you reach out to local businesses directly over the phone to see if they plan on offering dinners and/or lunches on April 7 and 8 and if they would be able to accommodate you.
  • Eclipse glasses are available for purchase online (Amazon, etc.)
  • We also recommend that you avoid driving during the event, as Route 7 and the area will likely experience overwhelming traffic congestion. Some streets and roads will be completely closed to vehicles.
  • It's Mud Season in Vermont. Stay off fields, hiking/mountain trails, and unpaved roads. Our muddy backyard will be closed.
